Steering
In a race car, the steering wheel plays a crucial role in controlling the car and providing the driver with the right feedback. A sports steering wheel is often smaller and lighter than a standard steering wheel, which allows for faster steering response and more precision while driving. Sports steering wheels are usually covered with suede or alcantara for better grip, especially when the driver is wearing gloves, this provides much more relaxation in the hands and wrists. The differences between sports steering wheels often lie in the total diameter of the wheel, but also in the thickness of the grip. Additionally, there are wheels with a recessed center, bringing the wheel closer to the driver, often called deep dish. There are sports steering wheels with 3 and 6 mounting holes, the wheels with 3 holes are generally for Formula cars, single-seaters, and prototype cars. The wheels with 6 holes are usually mounted in touring cars. Most 6-hole sports wheels come with a horn. Pro-Racing sells sports steering wheels from the brands Sparco and QSP.

Accessories
For sports steering wheels in motorsports, various accessories are available. A commonly seen addition between the steering hub and the sports steering wheel is the so-called quick release. This ensures that the steering wheel becomes detachable, which is ideal during getting in and out but also makes theft more difficult. Additionally, spacers are available that bring the steering wheel closer to the driver, which is especially appreciated by taller drivers. Pro-Racing sells accessories for sports steering wheels from the brand Sparco.

Steering hubs
When you want to install a sports steering wheel in your (racing) car, it is almost certain that you will first need to mount a special steering hub. A steering hub is brand and type specific and is essentially an adapter that converts the original connection into a suitable connection for a 6-hole sports steering wheel. You don't need to make any permanent modifications for this, and the original steering wheel can always be reinstalled.
