With the development of the SKV-R helmet, Arai has further refined its well-known safety philosophy. Thanks to an extremely round and smooth outer shell according to the Egg Shaped Form (ESF), impact energy is better dissipated in the event of a crash. Instead of coming to an abrupt stop, the helmet can slide along a surface, reducing rotational forces on the head and neck. The Arai SKV-R is equipped with the newly developed advanced VAS (Variable Axis System) visor mechanism. The pivot point of the visor is placed lower, keeping the top of the helmet shell even rounder and stronger. In addition, an important improvement has been made, namely an 8 mm higher visor opening. This allows the rider to have a larger vertical field of vision, which offers advantages in quickly assessing situations and seeing, for example, flag signals.
The lining of the Arai SKV-R has been completely renewed and is now removable and washable. To optimize the fit of the Arai SKV-R, both the lining and cheek pads are available in different thicknesses as options.
