Prevent the Most Common Injury in Karting
The most common injury in karting is a rib injury, which is why in official competitions a rib protector is mandatory for all drivers aged 16 and under (see KNAF regulations).
But even when not racing in competitions or for drivers who are older than this age, we recommend wearing a good rib protector. There are various models of rib protectors available in different price ranges. The cheaper models only have thin padding and therefore offer minimal protection.
Hard Material for Optimal Protection
Our experience is that it is important for a rib protector to have shells made of hard material to optimally protect the ribs, both in the event of an impact and when 'leaning' against the seat edge in corners. Additionally, there are rib protectors available that offer extra protection on the back or chest.
Rib protectors are available in different sizes, often based on a certain chest circumference. Except for international FIA competitions, a rib protector does not need to be homologated.
