The ideal kart glove provides feel and grip
With a kart glove, it's all about feel and grip, after all, you want to feel exactly what your kart is doing!
Where previously the grip on the palm of a kart glove was obtained through (artificial) leather paddings, nowadays almost all gloves are equipped with a silicone print. The advantage of silicone is that it provides a lot of grip – especially when it gets warm from the heat of the hand – and that it is very thin, so there is minimal material between the hand and the steering wheel.
Inside-stitched vs outside-stitched
The cheaper gloves are inside-stitched, which means that the seams of these gloves are on the inside. Better models are outside-stitched, with the seams visible on the outside. The advantage of outside-stitched is that fewer pressure points are felt, and the glove has a larger contact surface on the steering wheel. Most gloves can be worn both in summer and winter, but when it rains heavily or is very cold, special winter gloves can be chosen. These are usually made of neoprene, a material that does not absorb water.
Check the size chart
Because each manufacturer has its own sizing, we have added a size chart to all gloves. This size chart describes how the hand circumference should be measured. The hand circumference refers to a certain size. Some brands – including Alpinestars – have special models for children, while other brands work with one model that has a size range from very small to very large. Gloves in karting do not need to be homologated.
