Overalls

The most eye-catching part of a driver's outfit is the racing suit. Classic, modern, or extra striking; suits come in literally all shapes and sizes. Characteristic of motorsport suits is that they are flame retardant and are usually made from the special flame-retardant fabric Nomex. Underwear

Under the overall, a driver wears a set of underwear consisting of a long-sleeved shirt with a collar, long pants, a balaclava (helmet cap), and socks. All these components are flame-retardant, usually made of Nomex and equipped with the FIA 8856-2000 homologation. Pro-Racing supplies underwear from the brands Sparco, Alpinestars, and Adidas. The various types of underwear differ from each other in material use and fit; the more luxurious underwear has a nice tailored fit while the basic underwear has a 'regular-fit' fit. In terms of material use, the more luxurious underwear uses better fabrics that more easily dissipate warm air and moisture, providing more wearing comfort.

Shoes

Auto racing shoes are developed for maximum feel with the pedals and are generally extra narrow, which prevents unwanted contact with the wrong pedal. Pro-Racing supplies shoes from the brands Sparco and Alpinestars. Besides the main requirement, the presence of FIA homologation, racing shoes are flame retardant and at least mid-high (ankle-protecting). Low shoes are therefore not allowed in motorsport. In terms of material use, we generally see suede and various types of leather in the range of motorsport shoes. The lining is made of Nomex.

Gloves

In addition to providing protection, the main purpose of motorsport gloves is to provide grip. By applying special padding on the palm and fingers, it is ensured that the glove has optimal contact with the steering wheel. The type of padding used determines the level of grip. For example, silicone padding provides more grip compared to traditional padding made of (synthetic) leather. Besides grip, different gloves also distinguish themselves by the application of stitching on the inside or outside. Stitching on the outside provides a better contact surface with the steering wheel and more comfort for the driver. FHR nek protectie

FHR (Frontal Head Restraint) neck protection is essential in motorsport to prevent serious neck and head injuries in the event of an impact. This system, often known as HANS (Head And Neck Support) or Hybrid, consists of a type of collar that is attached to the helmet and sometimes also the body with straps. In a collision, it limits the movement of the head and neck, drastically reducing the forces on the neck. Helmen

In open vehicles without a window, wearing a Full Face helmet is mandatory. When the vehicle is equipped with a window, the choice is generally up to the driver.

Belts & accessories

Seat belts are a crucial part of the safety systems in a race car. They are designed to keep the driver securely in the seat and thus prevent injury during sudden shocks or an impact. In motorsport, belts are used which are attached to the vehicle at 4, 5, or 6 points. Steering & accessories

In motorsport, a sports steering wheel plays a crucial role in creating optimal control and providing feedback to the driver. A sports steering wheel is often smaller and lighter than a standard steering wheel, allowing for quicker steering response and more precision while driving. These wheels are usually covered with suede or alcantara for better grip, even in the most challenging racing conditions. There are sports steering wheels with 3 and 6 mounting holes; the wheels with 3 holes are typically for Formula cars, single-seaters, and prototype cars. The wheels with 6 holes are usually mounted in touring cars. To mount a steering wheel in a (former street) car, a steering hub is needed. A steering hub forms the connection between the sports steering wheel and the car's steering column, and is therefore brand and type specific. Fire extinguishers

In motorsport, safety is of the utmost importance. Fire extinguishers play a crucial role in this. Fire hazards are always present due to high speeds, hot engines, and flammable liquids. A fire extinguisher can quickly extinguish a starting fire, limit damage, and save lives. They are mandatory in all racing vehicles and on the track for immediate intervention. Tire warmers are essential tools in motorsports used to preheat the tires of race cars to an optimal operating temperature. Preheating the tires reduces the time needed to bring the tires up to temperature on the track, which is crucial in competitive racing situations and prevents unnecessary tire wear.

There are two main types of tire warmers: analog and digital. Analog tire warmers use a simple thermostat to control the temperature. They are relatively easy to use and offer reliable performance, but they have limited capabilities. The temperature usually has one fixed value that is not adjustable. Digital tire warmers, on the other hand, offer more advanced control. They are equipped with digital thermostats and temperature sensors, ensuring accurate and consistent temperature regulation. Drivers and technicians can set and monitor the exact desired temperature. This makes digital tire warmers particularly suitable for professional racing teams striving for maximum control over tire temperature.

Manometers

A tire pressure gauge is essential in motorsports for optimizing grip, handling, and tire lifespan. There are analog and digital tire pressure gauges. An analog gauge uses a needle and scale, is robust and battery-free, but is somewhat less accurate to read. Wheels & threaded rods

In motorsports, bolts are often not used for mounting the rims; instead, studs and wheel nuts are used. The studs are mounted in the hub, and the rim is slid over them. Window and interior nets

Window nets are installed on the driver's side of the car, between the driver and the side window. An interior net is located to the right of the driver and runs from the side of the seat towards the dashboard. When the FIA rules are closely examined, it is seen that the primary function of both a window and interior net is to protect the driver's head and to limit the lateral movement of the seat, which has quite a bit of 'flex'.
